Changing ISP-How to Change ISP Successfully
There are many choices of Internet provider, and will be tempted to change
provider by change of requirements, circumstances or simply cost.
However before you rush into signing up with a new ISP ( Internet Service
provider) you need to be aware of
some possible ramifications.
Email Addresses
This is by far the most important consideration. Most people use email addresses provided by their ISP and changing ISP usually means that they lose their email addresses.
If you are one of those who regularly switch providers then you should consider separating your email from your ISP.
This you can do by using many of the email only providers or by getting yourself a permanent lifetime email address
with your own domain name.
Otherwise you should acquaint yourself with the common procedures to follow in order to
change email addresses. Once
you have your broadband set up then you need to disable or delete you old dial up connection.
Disable your old Dial Up
If you are moving from an old dial up then:
Once you are on broadband you also need to disable dial up otherwise when you go to send the email client will try to establish an Internet connection before sending and completely ignore the fact
that it is already connected to the Internet.
To do this open Internet explorer select Tools>internet options and make sure the never dial a connection radio box is enabled.

If you are sure that you will no longer use the dial up connection you should delete it. I would always wait until I was happy that the broadband was working ok before doing do.
