The address bar of the web browser is where you enter and see web addresses.
There are two ways of getting to a website. They are:
- Clicking on a link
- Entering the webs address of the site into the web browser.
When you access a web site you need to enter the website address into the browser address bar as shown below:

Notice that your don’t need to enter the http:// but if you do it is ok.
You should also notice that most browsers will display web addresses of other sites that you have visited that are similar to the one you are entering.
In the the above screen shot you can see another you tube address (red underline).
Searching from the Address bar
Modern browsers allow you to enter a search phrase directly into the address bar. When you hit return they will pass the search phrase to the default search engine.

here is what happens when you hit return:

Browser History
By default web browsers store the web addresses of websites that you have visited and display the addresses when you begin entering a web address into the address bar (auto complete).
This can save you repeatedly entering a web address as usually only a few characters are necessary and auto complete will fill in the rest.
If you are unhappy that the browser remembers where you have visited then you can turn it off by going to Tools>Internet Options>General tab and click the delete browsing history on exit box. (below)
