An Internet provider like BT (British telecom)
provides you with access to the internet. In the UK

As many providers have a minimum term contact it

Sharing
Today many common appliances are able to to
connect to the Internet and in the future it is
likely that almost all common household and business
devices will be equipped with internet connectivity.
Because many of us use multiple devices to access
the internet it is common to configure these devices
to share an internet connection.
This involves setting up the device
(computer/laptop etc) on a local network (home/small
business).
