How to Connect To The Internet

Today almost everyone sees the need to be connected to the Internet whether at home, at work, or on the road.

There are four main connection methods that are used today by home and small business users to connect to the Internet, they are:

  • ADSL
  • Wi-Fi (Wireless)
  • WAP (used by mobile phones)
  • Dial up - slowly disappearing

Choosing an Internet Connection Provider/Package

An Internet provider like BT (British telecom) provides you with access to the internet. In the UK there are many Internet providers to choose from and it is easy to get confused by the choices.

As many providers have a minimum term contact it is essential that you choose carefully and that your provider package caters to your requirements.

Today many common appliances are able to to connect to the Internet and in the future it is likely that almost all common household and business devices will be equipped with internet connectivity.

This involves setting up the device (computer/laptop etc) on a local network (home/small business).
