As I understand 1.5.8 only supports version up to 3.1.1 of the MQTT protocol not the newer 1.6 which is needed to support the current version 5 of MQTT.
I also haven’t found anything about how to implement a secure version using TLS Do you need a certificate from somewhere

MQTT v5 support avaibale since 1.6 see changelog https://mosquitto.org/ChangeLog.txt
